Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.
The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.
Rice's Recent Legal Issues
The receiver missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
