Nearly 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast found themselves without power on the start of the week after powerful weather events passed over the state, producing powerful gusts topping 109km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Locals witnessed giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities announced that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units working to address the widespread outages.
Victorian Storm Challenges
Meanwhile, around one thousand residents in Victoria also encountered power outages after the metropolitan area saw its wettest day in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services received 598 requests for assistance across the state, mostly for structural issues but also for fallen timber and inundation.

- Hoppers Crossing area - multiple rescue reports
- Wyndham region - 179 emergency requests
At the height on the previous day, more than 28k electricity consumers in the state were without power.
Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
The following day was expected to become the most rainy day, with ongoing severe weather risk expected across different parts of both regions.
Medical Alert
Health officials warned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after past events where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
